The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Rapid Response Squad – RRS is warning Nigerians patronising the popular computer market in Lagos to be very careful of alleged fraudsters

– According to the RRS, some of the fraudsters engage in dubious activities including padding money with cardboard papers before returning them to the buyers

– The law enforcement agency releases photographs emphasizing how the fraudulent activities are carried out

The Rapid Response Squad (RRS), an arm of the police command in Lagos, has exposed the activities of fraudsters in Computer Village, a popular market in the Ikeja area of the state where phones and electronic devices are sold.

According to the RRS, unsuspecting phone buyers are often scammed by persons who pose as phone sellers in the market using a somewhat smart strategy.

The strategy, according to the agency headed by Olatunji Disu Tunji Disu involves that the seller, in the process of refunding money to buyers, would pad the amount up with cardboard paper.

In its messages on social media, the RRS posted photos informing Nigerians: “Its 1k note padded with cardboard paper. This is what most scammers at computer village usually return to unsuspecting individuals who go there to buy phones.

“You give them your money but instead of getting a phone in return, you get this padded stuff.”
